A one-off architectural retreat
THE PROJECT
A complete hospitality suite, designed as one architectural object.
NOCTURNE is a one-off, self-contained luxury hospitality suite and a built prototype demonstrating what Knowhaus can design and construct.
Approximately 7.8 metres long and 2.5 metres wide at its base, its form is defined by dramatic 15-degree angled side walls and a fully glazed end. The exterior, interior, furniture and landscaping were conceived as one complete environment.
Originally built on a concealed three-axle trailer, future commissions would normally be designed as fixed structures unless mobility is essential. Each would be individually developed for its client, location and intended use.

THE INTERIOR
Every element designed as part
of the whole
The interior of NOCTURNE was developed as a direct continuation of its exterior architecture. Nothing was treated as an afterthought, and almost nothing was selected off the shelf.
Every component was individually designed and made to follow the geometry of the structure — from the angled kitchen worktop and integrated cabinetry to the furniture, lighting, wall treatments and even the door handles.
A dining table folds discreetly from beneath the staircase leading to the mezzanine, while the kitchen, bathroom, storage and sleeping areas are all integrated into one carefully considered environment.

Built once.
Never repeated.
NOCTURNE was created as a complete one-off prototype, demonstrating what can happen when architecture, interiors, furniture and landscape are developed together from the beginning.
It was never intended to become a standard model. Every future commission would start again with the client, the location and the intended experience. The dimensions, layout, materials, exterior form and interior character would all be individually reconsidered.
Most future commissions would be designed as fixed structures, with mobility introduced only where it serves a genuine purpose. The aim would not be to reproduce NOCTURNE, but to create something equally distinctive for a new setting.
